Red Light Therapy Stands: Panel Stand Types and Mounting Options
Short answer: choose a red light therapy stand by the panel it is documented to carry, then by how you will use it: standing in front of the panel, lying under it, or both. A fixed floor stand holds a smaller panel in one position. A rolling base moves a large panel between rooms. A height-adjustable or rotating stand lets one panel serve different users and positions. Do not match a stand to a panel by guessing at weight. Use the manufacturer's compatibility list. The stands compared below are in our range, alongside panels such as the RDPRO6000 full-body panel.
Why the stand matters
A stand does two jobs. It holds a heavy electrical device safely above the floor, and it puts the panel at the same height, angle and distance each time you use it. A panel leaned against a wall does neither reliably.
Five stand types compared
These are the five stands in our range, with the figures and panel lists their manufacturer, RedDot, documents.
| Stand | Type | Height | Stand weight | Documented for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Floor Stand (FS) | Fixed base | Fixed | 3 kg shipped | Half-body panels |
| Rolling Stand XL / XXL | Wheeled base | Fixed | 9.2 kg / 12.5 kg shipped | XL: RDPRO3000 or two RDPRO1500. XXL: RDPRO6000 |
| Vertical Stand (VS) | Manual height adjustment | 120 to 150 cm | 20 kg | RDMAX, RD6000, RDPRO6000 |
| Pneumatic Stand (PS) | Gas-assisted height, rotates vertical to horizontal | 97.5 to 136 cm | 10 kg | RDPRO3000, or two RD1500 / RDPRO1500 |
| Motorized Lift Stand (RMS) | Motorised height and angle | 80 to 160 cm | 38 kg | See the panel list on its page |
RedDot does not publish a maximum load for these stands. That is why the compatibility list, not a weight calculation, is the way to match one to a panel. If your panel is not on a stand's list, ask us before ordering.
Choose by how you will use the panel
Standing in front of it
Any stand that holds the panel upright will do, provided it is documented for your panel. If several people of different heights use it, a height-adjustable stand saves moving the panel by hand.
Lying under or beside it
You need a stand that turns the panel horizontal. In our range that is the Pneumatic Stand, which rotates between vertical and horizontal. Before you buy, measure the bed or table the panel will sit over and ask whether the stand's base clears it.
Moving it between rooms
A wheeled base is the answer for a large panel. The XL and XXL rolling stands are not interchangeable: each is documented for different panels, so choose by panel model. Lock or chock the wheels before use if the floor has any slope.
A studio or clinic with many users
Height that changes at the touch of a control is worth more when the user changes many times a day. The motorised stand weighs 38 kg, so treat it as a fixed installation.
Wall, door and ceiling mounting
A panel may be supplied with door hooks or wall brackets. Use only the mounting hardware the panel's manufacturer supplies or approves, and follow its instructions for the wall type. If you rent, check before drilling. We do not recommend improvised mounts for a device of this weight.
Setup and safety checks
- Assemble on the floor. Tighten all hardware to the manual's specification before the panel goes on.
- Get help lifting. Fitting a full-body panel to a stand is a two-person job unless the manual says otherwise.
- Re-check after moving. A rolling stand settles; check the mounting hardware after the first few moves.
- Route the cord. Make sure the power cord reaches the outlet at every height and angle you will use, without pulling tight. Follow the panel manual on extension cords.
- Keep the area clear. Children and pets should not be able to pull on a stand or its cord.
- Mind your eyes. Panel position decides where the light points. Follow the panel manufacturer's eyewear instructions, and ask whether the panel has been assessed to IEC 62471, the photobiological safety standard for lamps.
Before you order
- Exact panel model, and whether it is on the stand's documented list.
- Standing use, lying use, or both.
- One room or several.
- Height range against the people who will use it.
- Whether assembly hardware and a manual are included, and what the warranty covers. Our warranty and serviceability checklist lists what to ask.

Frequently asked questions
Will any stand fit my red light panel?
No. Stands are documented for specific panels. Check the stand's compatibility list for your exact model.
Can I use a panel lying down?
Yes, with a stand that holds the panel horizontally and is documented for it.
How much weight can a panel stand hold?
Not every manufacturer publishes a load rating. RedDot does not for the stands above, so match by the documented panel list.
Do I need a stand at all?
A panel needs to be held securely at a consistent position. If it came with approved door or wall hardware, that may be enough for standing use. For lying use or for moving the panel, a stand is the practical option.
