The GDI-8230-01 is the larger of two 3-person cabins in the Golden Designs 8000 Reserve range, and it is a materially different sauna from the 61-inch-wide GDI-8030-03 rather than a variant of it. It uses a deeper 50-inch cabin, a different 3 + 6 heater configuration totalling nine elements, draws 2,700 watts, ships in five cartons, and requires two separate dedicated 120V / 15A non-GFCI circuits — not the single 20-amp circuit the smaller 3-person model uses.

Why Consider the Reserve GDI-8230-01?
Golden Designs lists two 3-person Reserve cabins, and buyers routinely assume the more expensive one is simply the same sauna with a markup. It is not. The GDI-8230-01 has a 50″ deep cabin against 41″, nine heaters against eight in a different configuration, and 2,700 watts against 2,200. The depth is the point — it is the Reserve cabin that gives three people room to sit without shoulders touching, and the only 3-person model in the range with enough bench depth to lie down along one wall.

A different array from the other 3-person cabin. The GDI-8030-03 is documented as 5 + 3; this model is 3 + 6. The totals differ (8 against 9) and so does the balance between the two element groups. Combined with the deeper cabin, that is why the two 3-person Reserve saunas are priced differently and why they are not interchangeable.
Golden Designs publishes the 3 + 6 configuration but does not publish which count corresponds to which infrared band, so Wellari does not state a near/far split for this model.
Near Zero EMF — What Golden Designs Documents
Golden Designs classifies the 8000 Reserve full spectrum range as Near Zero EMF.
Why we do not publish a number. Golden Designs' current V26.0 documentation, all issued on the same date, states different Near Zero EMF measurement figures for its full spectrum range in different documents — the model-family sheet, the full spectrum sheet and the dealer workbook do not agree with one another. Because those figures conflict, Wellari publishes the manufacturer's classification and does not quote a milligauss value for this model until Golden Designs reconciles them.
If a specific measured EMF figure is a decision criterion for you, contact us and we will request it from Golden Designs in writing.
When comparing sauna models generally, always compare the stated figure together with the distance at which it was measured. A lower number taken further from the panel is not necessarily a lower-emission cabin.

This is the most commonly misplanned specification on this sauna. At 2,700 watts the cabin exceeds what a single 15-amp or 20-amp household circuit can carry, so Golden Designs specifies two separate 15-amp circuits, each with its own breaker and outlet, and specifies non-GFCI outlets. Two outlets on the same circuit will not work — they must be independently fed from the panel.
Have a qualified electrician confirm that two separate dedicated circuits can be run to the installation point before you order. This is the single item most likely to delay commissioning after delivery, and retrofitting a second circuit to a finished basement or garage wall is considerably more disruptive once the cabin is assembled in front of it.

Check depth, not just width. At 50″ deep — nearly 55″ including the roof overhang — this cabin projects considerably further into a room than the other 3-person Reserve model, which is 41″ deep. It is the trade the design makes: narrower than a 4-person cabin, but much deeper.
Measure the full delivery path as well as the installation area: doorways, hallways, stair turns and tight corners. At approximately 550 lb assembled, the cabin is not practical to reposition once built, so decide the final location before assembly begins.

Can I run the GDI-8230-01 on a single 20-amp circuit?
No. Golden Designs specifies two separate 120V / 15A non-GFCI outlets for this 2,700-watt model, each fed independently from the panel. Two outlets on one shared circuit will not meet the requirement. Confirm with a qualified electrician before ordering.
What is the difference between this and the other 3-person Reserve sauna?
They are genuinely different models, not two prices for the same cabin. The GDI-8030-03 is 61″ wide and 41″ deep with 8 heaters (5 + 3) on a single 20-amp circuit. This GDI-8230-01 is 58″ wide and 50″ deep with 9 heaters (3 + 6) on two 15-amp circuits, and ships in 5 cartons rather than 3. Choose this one for cabin depth and heater count; choose the 8030-03 for a wider, shallower footprint and simpler wiring.
Why doesn't this page state an EMF number in milligauss?
Because Golden Designs' own current documents disagree. Three V26.0 documents issued on the same date give three different measurement figures for the full spectrum range. We publish the manufacturer's Near Zero EMF classification and are seeking a reconciled figure. Ask us if you need it in writing before ordering.
Is there enough depth to lie down?
The cabin is 50″ deep externally, which is the greatest depth of any 3-person model in the Reserve range and allows a reclined position along the bench that the 41″ deep GDI-8030-03 does not. Whether you can lie fully flat depends on your height — measure against the interior bench before assuming it.
How is it delivered, and what do I need to arrange?
