YD004 Large-Format Red & Near-Infrared Light Therapy Pad
The YD004 is the largest pad in RedDot's fabric range: 210 LEDs at 36W, running from a 12V/3A supply. Its spectrum is weighted the opposite way to the smaller YD002 — a documented 4:1 ratio of 660nm red to 850nm near-infrared — which makes it the surface-weighted choice across a broad area such as the back or thighs.
Wellari Expert Take
Why Consider the YD004?
The YD004 is not simply a bigger YD002. It has 75% more emitters and 44% more power, but the more important difference is the spectrum weighting. Where the YD002 runs two parts near-infrared to one part red, the YD004 inverts it: four parts red to one part near-infrared. Across 210 emitters that works out at roughly 168 red to 42 near-infrared.
That matters when you choose between them. Red light at 660nm acts closer to the surface; 850nm near-infrared penetrates further. So the YD004 is the better fit if you want broad, shallower coverage over a large area, and the YD002 is the better fit if you want a deeper-weighted spectrum on a specific joint. Bigger is not automatically better here — they are aimed at different things.
Best For
- Broad areas — lower back, thighs, abdomen, shoulders across — rather than a single joint.
- Buyers who want surface-weighted red light rather than a near-infrared-dominant spectrum.
- Anyone who found a smaller pad too fiddly to reposition several times per session.
- Households wanting one pad that works for more than one person's use case.
- Owners of a YD002 who want a second, larger-area device rather than a duplicate.
YD004 Features & Buying Details
Spectrum & Output
- LED count: 210
- Wavelengths: 660nm (red) and 850nm (near-infrared)
- Documented ratio: 660nm : 850nm = 4:1 — approximately 168 red to 42 near-infrared
- Rated power: 36W
Near-infrared at 850nm is invisible to the eye. The pad will look as though only the red emitters are lit; that is normal and does not indicate a fault.
On irradiance: RedDot's documentation for the YD004 specifies LED count, input, power and wavelength ratio, and does not state an irradiance figure. We do not publish one.
Everyday Use & Placement
- Form: flexible fabric pad, wrapped or laid against the body
- Typical placement: lower back, thighs, abdomen, across the shoulders
- Working distance: contact — consistent by design, with nothing to measure or re-aim
On the controls: RedDot does not publish a control specification — intensity levels or timer steps — for the YD004, so this page states none. If that detail matters to your decision, ask us and we will obtain it from RedDot in writing before you buy.
Power & Setup
- Input: 12V / 3A
- Rated power: 36W
- Supply: mains adapter, included
- In the box: lamp board × 1, adapter × 1, manual × 1
At 36W on a 12V/3A input this is a mains-powered device. It is not designed to run from a USB power bank, and we do not list one as compatible.
Shipping, Warranty & Safety
- Warranty: 1 year, manufacturer
- Shipped carton: 35.7 × 20.7 × 7.4 cm
- Gross shipping weight: 1.3 kg
- Shipping: parcel, not freight

Compare the RedDot Pad & Wrap Range
- YD004 — 210 LEDs, 36W, 4:1 red-weighted. The large-area pad. You are reading its page.
- YD002 Fabric Pad — 120 LEDs, 25W, and a 1:2 near-infrared-weighted spectrum. The targeted, deeper-weighted alternative.
- Knee Support Belt (YD005) — shaped and strapped for the knee specifically.

Common Questions
Is the YD004 just a larger YD002?
No. It is larger and more powerful, but its spectrum is weighted the other way — 4:1 red to near-infrared, against the YD002's 1:2. They suit different goals.
How big is the pad itself?
RedDot's documentation gives the shipped carton as 35.7 × 20.7 × 7.4 cm but does not publish the unfolded pad dimensions, so none is stated here. Ask us and we will request it.
What intensity levels and timer settings does it have?
RedDot does not publish a documented control specification for the YD004. Ask us and we will request the intensity and timer detail from RedDot in writing before you buy.
Why is there no irradiance figure?
Because RedDot's documentation for this model does not state one, and an irradiance number without a measurement distance is not usable information.
Is it a medical device?
No. It is a personal wellness accessory and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
