YD002 Fabric Red & Near-Infrared Light Therapy Pad
The YD002 is a flexible fabric light therapy pad built around 120 LEDs delivering 660nm red and 850nm near-infrared light in a manufacturer-documented 1:2 ratio — two parts near-infrared to every one part red. It runs at 25W from a 12V/3A supply, and it is designed to be wrapped around a knee, shoulder, forearm or lower back rather than mounted on a stand.
Wellari Expert Take
Why Consider the YD002?
Most people shopping for their first light therapy device look at panels, then discover a panel only helps if they sit still in front of it. A wrap-style pad solves a different problem: it stays in contact with one area while you carry on with your day. The YD002 is the mid-point of RedDot's pad range — 120 LEDs against the smaller YD001's 105 and the larger YD004's 210 — so it covers a joint or muscle group without becoming a two-handed object.
The specification worth understanding is the 1:2 ratio. Two-thirds of the emitters are 850nm near-infrared, which penetrates further than red light, and one-third are 660nm red, which acts nearer the surface. That weighting is a deliberate choice by the manufacturer toward deeper tissue rather than skin surface — the opposite emphasis to a facial mask.
Best For
- Someone who wants light therapy on a knee, elbow, shoulder or lower back rather than the whole body.
- Buyers who prefer a device that wraps and stays put over one that must be aimed.
- Anyone stepping up from a small starter pad who wants more emitters without moving to a full panel.
- Households that want a second, portable device alongside a fixed panel.
- People who value a near-infrared-weighted spectrum over a skin-surface-weighted one.
YD002 Features & Buying Details
Spectrum & Output
- LED count: 120
- Wavelengths: 660nm (red) and 850nm (near-infrared)
- Documented ratio: 660nm : 850nm = 1:2 — which across 120 emitters gives 40 red to 80 near-infrared
- Rated power: 25W
On irradiance: RedDot's price sheet and the YD002 proforma both specify LED count, input, power and wavelength ratio — and neither states an irradiance figure. We therefore do not publish one. An irradiance number is only meaningful alongside the distance it was measured at, and quoting a figure we cannot source, at a distance we cannot state, would tell you nothing you could rely on. If you need a measured figure for a specific application, ask us and we will request it from RedDot in writing.
Everyday Use & Placement
- Form: flexible fabric pad, intended to be wrapped rather than mounted
- Typical placement: knee, elbow, shoulder, forearm, calf, lower back
- Session habit: most owners settle into a consistent short daily session rather than occasional long ones
Because the pad is worn against the body, the working distance is effectively zero and does not vary the way it does with a panel. That consistency is the practical advantage of a contact device: the same placement gives the same exposure each time, without you having to measure anything.
Power & Setup
- Input: 12V / 3A
- Rated power: 25W
- Supply: mains adapter, included
- In the box: lamp board × 1, USB cable × 1, adapter × 1, manual × 1
Power supply: the YD002 is not compatible with a 5V/2A power bank. A 5V/2A supply delivers 10W, and the YD002 is a 25W device on a 12V/3A input — the arithmetic does not work. Run it from the supplied mains adapter.

Common Questions
How does the YD002 differ from the YD004?
Emitter count and size. The YD002 has 120 LEDs at 25W; the YD004 has 210 at 36W and a larger pad. Both use 660nm and 850nm. Choose the YD004 if you want to cover a back or thigh in one placement.
Can I run it from a power bank?
No. It needs 12V at 3A. A standard 5V USB power bank cannot supply that. Use the included mains adapter.
What is the 1:2 ratio, in plain terms?
For every one 660nm red emitter there are two 850nm near-infrared emitters — 40 red and 80 near-infrared across the 120 total. The spectrum is deliberately weighted toward the deeper-penetrating wavelength.
Why is there no irradiance figure on this page?
Because RedDot's documentation for this model does not state one. We publish what the manufacturer documents and say so when a figure is missing, rather than filling the gap with a number from a different product.
Is it a medical device?
No. It is a personal wellness accessory and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

Manufacturer Specifications, Stated Plainly
Every figure on this page — LED count, wavelengths, ratio, power, input, carton and warranty — comes from RedDot LED's own documentation for the YD002 specifically, and each was corroborated across two independent RedDot documents before publication. Where the manufacturer does not state a figure, we say so rather than estimating. That is why the irradiance row reads the way it does.
Not sure whether a pad or a panel suits what you are trying to do? Tell us the area you want to cover and we will point you at the right one, including if that means spending less.
