Compex Performance 3.0 EMS & TENS Muscle Stimulator Kit

The Performance 3.0 is the middle unit in Compex's wired range: six programs covering preparation, conditioning work, recovery and TENS. It runs the same 999 intensity levels, the same 95 Hz maximum and the same eight-hour battery as the flagship Sport Elite 3.0 — what you give up is program breadth, not power.

Wellari Expert Take

Why Consider the Performance 3.0?

This is the unit we point most people toward. The three wired Compex stimulators share a chassis, a battery, an electrode set and an intensity ceiling — 999 levels, 95 Hz, up to eight hours per charge on all three. The only thing that changes as you move up the range is how many distinct programs the device offers: four on the Edge, six here, ten on the Sport Elite.

Six is the point where the device covers a complete training session rather than a fragment of one: something to run before you start, several ways to load the muscle, a recovery protocol for afterwards, and TENS for comfort. The four extra programs on the Sport Elite are genuinely useful — but they are specialised protocols for athletes managing a competitive season, and most buyers will not reach for them.

Best For

  • People training consistently who want preparation, conditioning and recovery in one device
  • Buyers who want full Compex intensity and build quality without paying for ten programs
  • Anyone who wants EMS conditioning and TENS comfort support in a single unit
  • Users who prefer a wired device for longer runtime and nothing loose to misplace
  • A first serious muscle stimulator for someone stepping up from an entry-level TENS unit

Performance 3.0 Features & Buying Details

The six programs

Compex describes the Performance 3.0 program set as one pre-warm-up program, three strength-building programs, one recovery program and one TENS program — six in total.

  • Prewarm Up: does not contract the muscle; raises local blood flow before activity.
  • Strength: the primary strength-building program.
  • Resistance: an all-round program working both slow and fast-twitch fibres.
  • Active Recovery: used after training to support the recovery phase.
  • Pain Relief / TENS: nerve-level stimulation for temporary, localised comfort.

Each program carries five levels of progression, so the same program can be made more demanding as you adapt to it. The third strength-family program is drawn from Compex's conditioning set; if its exact naming matters to your training plan, ask us and we will confirm it against the manual for this specific model before you order.

Display, controls and pad placement
  • Display: backlit LCD.
  • Controls: centre navigation button for moving through programs and intensity.
  • Placement guidance: integrated pad-placement suggestions shown on the device.
  • Leads: four colour-coded lead wires, so four electrode groups can be run at once.
  • Protection: water-resistant silicone sleeve that also improves grip.

Intensity is set per channel, not globally — a large muscle group and a small one can be worked in the same session without the smaller one being overdriven.

Power, charging and portability
  • Battery: rechargeable lithium-ion.
  • Runtime: up to 8 hours of stimulation per charge.
  • Charging: USB charger included.
  • Device weight: 210 g.
  • Device dimensions: 140 × 80 × 25 mm.

Eight hours is stimulation time rather than standby, which for most users means weeks of normal training between charges.

What is in the box
  • Compex Performance 3.0 stimulator with water-resistant silicone sleeve
  • 2 × 2" × 4" dual snap electrodes
  • 4 × 2" × 2" snap electrodes
  • 4 colour-coded lead wires
  • USB charger
  • Carrying case
  • Quick start guide and user manual (downloadable from Compex)

Six electrodes are supplied in total — two large and four small. Electrodes are consumable and are the item you will re-order over time; replacement options are listed further down this page.

Warranty, support and safe use
  • Device warranty: two years, extended to three years if the device is registered with Compex.
  • Coverage: for wired devices the warranty covers the hand-held unit.
  • Accessory warranty: 60 days, covering lead wires, charger, batteries and electrodes.
  • Claims: handled directly by the Compex claims department.

Note the split: the stimulator is covered for years, the consumables around it for 60 days. Wellari's own returns and support terms are separate from the manufacturer warranty and are set out in our store policies.

Replacement Electrodes for This Device

The Performance 3.0 uses both Compex Easy Snap sizes, and electrodes are the consumable you will re-order. Compex lists this device as compatible with:

Compex covers electrodes under its 60-day accessory warranty rather than the two-year device warranty.

Before You Buy: electrodes are consumables with a 60-day warranty and will need replacing periodically — budget for them. This is a wired unit, so you stay tethered to the electrodes during a session. If you specifically want Explosive Strength, Potentiation, Competition Recovery or Muscle Relaxation, those are on the Sport Elite 3.0, not here.

Common Questions

How many electrodes come in the box?

Six: two 2" × 4" dual snap electrodes and four 2" × 2" snap electrodes. Replacements in both sizes are available separately.

What is the difference between EMS and TENS?

EMS sends impulses that make the muscle itself contract, which is why it is used for preparation, conditioning and recovery. TENS works at the sensory-nerve level and does not contract the muscle; it is used for temporary, localised comfort. The Performance 3.0 does both.

Is it less powerful than the Sport Elite 3.0?

No. Both units reach 999 intensity levels and a 95 Hz maximum, use the same battery and runtime, and take the same electrodes. The Sport Elite 3.0 simply offers ten programs instead of six.

Is the Performance 3.0 enough if I train most days?

For most people, yes. It covers preparation before a session, conditioning work, recovery afterwards and TENS. The step up to ten programs matters mainly if you are managing a competitive season and want the specific Potentiation and Competition Recovery protocols.

How long do the electrodes last?

It depends on skin preparation, frequency of use and storage. Replace them once they no longer adhere evenly across the whole pad, or when stimulation starts to feel sharp at the edges — patchy contact concentrates current and is the usual cause of discomfort.

Can I use it if I have a pacemaker?

No. Do not use this device if you have a pacemaker, an implanted defibrillator or any other implanted electronic device unless a qualified healthcare professional has specifically cleared you to do so.

Manufacturer Specifications, Stated Plainly

Every figure on this page — program count, intensity range, frequency, battery runtime, electrode quantity, device weight and dimensions, and warranty terms — is taken from Compex's current published specifications for this exact model, not from a distributor summary. Where a specification could not be confirmed against the manufacturer, we leave it off the page rather than fill the gap. If you need a document we have not published, ask and we will source it.
