Compex Edge 3.0 EMS & TENS Muscle Stimulator Kit

The Edge 3.0 is Compex's entry point into muscle stimulation: four programs — two that build muscle, one that supports recovery and one TENS program for comfort. It uses the same chassis, the same 999 intensity levels and the same eight-hour battery as the more expensive wired units. What you are buying is a narrower set of programs, not a weaker device.

Wellari Expert Take

Why Consider the Edge 3.0?

Most people trying muscle stimulation for the first time do not know yet whether they will use it twice a week or twice a year. The Edge 3.0 is the honest answer to that uncertainty. It is a genuine Compex — same 999 intensity levels, same 95 Hz maximum, same five levels of progression, same rechargeable eight-hour battery, same on-screen pad-placement guidance, same electrodes — with four programs instead of ten.

The four it has are the ones a newcomer actually uses: two conditioning programs that build muscle, one recovery program for afterwards, and TENS for temporary comfort. What it does not include is a pre-warm-up program, so if you specifically want to run something before training, step up to the Performance 3.0. That is the single most common reason someone outgrows this unit.

Best For

  • First-time buyers who want a real Compex without committing to the full range
  • People who mainly want conditioning work plus a recovery program afterwards
  • Anyone who wants TENS comfort support alongside muscle stimulation
  • Buyers who value intensity range and build quality over breadth of programming
  • A second unit to keep at the gym or in a training bag

Edge 3.0 Features & Buying Details

The four programs
  • Endurance: targets slow-twitch fibres and resistance to fatigue — for longer aerobic work.
  • Resistance: an all-round program working both slow and fast-twitch fibres.
  • Active Recovery: used after training to support the recovery phase.
  • Pain Relief / TENS: nerve-level stimulation for temporary, localised comfort.

Each program carries five levels of progression, so the same program can be made more demanding as you adapt. Note that the Edge 3.0 does not include a pre-warm-up, Potentiation, Explosive Strength, Muscle Relaxation or Competition Recovery program — those sit on the Performance 3.0 and Sport Elite 3.0.

Display, controls and pad placement
  • Display: backlit LCD.
  • Controls: centre navigation button for moving through programs and intensity.
  • Placement guidance: integrated pad-placement suggestions shown on the device.
  • Leads: four colour-coded lead wires, so four electrode groups can be run at once.
  • Protection: water-resistant silicone sleeve that also improves grip.

The placement guidance matters more on an entry-level unit than anywhere else in the range — poor electrode positioning is the usual reason a first-time user concludes that muscle stimulation "does not work".

Power, charging and portability
  • Battery: rechargeable lithium-ion.
  • Runtime: up to 8 hours of stimulation per charge.
  • Charging: USB charger included.
  • Device weight: 210 g.
  • Device dimensions: 140 × 80 × 25 mm.
What is in the box
  • Compex Edge 3.0 stimulator with water-resistant silicone sleeve
  • 2 × 2" × 4" dual snap electrodes
  • 4 × 2" × 2" snap electrodes
  • 4 colour-coded lead wires
  • USB charger
  • Carrying case
  • Quick start guide and user manual (downloadable from Compex)

Six electrodes are supplied in total — two large and four small. Electrodes are consumable and are the item you will re-order over time; replacement options are listed further down this page.

Warranty, support and safe use
  • Device warranty: two years, extended to three years if the device is registered with Compex.
  • Coverage: for wired devices the warranty covers the hand-held unit.
  • Accessory warranty: 60 days, covering lead wires, charger, batteries and electrodes.
  • Claims: handled directly by the Compex claims department.

Wellari's own returns and support terms are separate from the manufacturer warranty and are set out in our store policies.

Replacement Electrodes for This Device

The Edge 3.0 uses both Compex Easy Snap sizes, and electrodes are the consumable you will re-order. Compex lists this device as compatible with:

Compex covers electrodes under its 60-day accessory warranty rather than the two-year device warranty.

Before You Buy: the Edge 3.0 has no pre-warm-up program. If you want to run stimulation before training rather than only during and after, choose the Performance 3.0. Electrodes are consumables with a 60-day warranty and will need replacing periodically. This is a wired unit, so you stay tethered to the electrodes during a session.

Common Questions

Which four programs does the Edge 3.0 have?

Endurance, Resistance, Active Recovery and Pain Relief / TENS.

How many electrodes come in the box?

Six: two 2" × 4" dual snap electrodes and four 2" × 2" snap electrodes. Replacements in both sizes are available separately.

Is the Edge 3.0 weaker than the more expensive Compex units?

No. It reaches the same 999 intensity levels and the same 95 Hz maximum as the Performance 3.0 and Sport Elite 3.0, with the same battery, the same runtime and the same electrodes. The difference is the number of programs.

What is the difference between EMS and TENS?

EMS sends impulses that make the muscle itself contract, which is why it is used for conditioning and recovery. TENS works at the sensory-nerve level and does not contract the muscle; it is used for temporary, localised comfort.

Can I add more programs later?

No — the program set is fixed in the device. If you expect to want pre-warm-up or the specialised recovery protocols, buy the model that already has them rather than planning to upgrade.

Can I use it if I have a pacemaker?

No. Do not use this device if you have a pacemaker, an implanted defibrillator or any other implanted electronic device unless a qualified healthcare professional has specifically cleared you to do so.

Why buy from Wellari

Manufacturer Specifications, Stated Plainly

Every figure on this page — program count and names, intensity range, frequency, battery runtime, electrode quantity, device weight and dimensions, and warranty terms — is taken from Compex's current published specifications for this exact model, not from a distributor summary. Where a specification could not be confirmed against the manufacturer, we leave it off the page rather than fill the gap.

Important product and safety information. Use the Compex Edge 3.0 only as directed by the manufacturer. Do not use it if you have a pacemaker, implanted defibrillator or other implanted electronic device unless specifically cleared by a qualified healthcare professional. Review the manufacturer's instructions, warnings, contraindications and electrode-placement guidance before use.
