iCool Compact XP Turbo Ice Bath Chiller

The Compact XP is iCoolsport's high-output chiller for larger baths — a 2.8 hp machine rated at 7,200 W cooling power for plunge pools up to 2,000 litres, cooling to 4°C (39°F). It carries the same titanium heat exchanger and marine-grade aluminium chassis as the rest of the Compact range, and iCoolsport permits 24/7 operation. It chills only — there is no heating function.

Wellari Expert Take

Why Consider the Compact XP?

The Compact XP is the step up in the range where pool capacity changes, not where temperature does. iCoolsport rates the two Compact Series 5 models for baths up to 500 litres; the XP is rated to 2,000 litres on the same 4°C floor. If your bath is larger than 500 litres, that capacity rating is the reason to move up — not a colder target.

iCoolsport permits 24/7 operation on this model, which is the manufacturer's stated allowance for continuous and repeated use rather than a single session per day. The materials are shared with the rest of the range: titanium at the water interface, commercial-grade copper in the refrigerant plumbing, marine-grade aluminium on the chassis.

Two things to be clear about. It does not heat — if you want contrast therapy at this capacity, the Compact XP Dual-Temp is the same machine with heating added. And it does not go below 4°C; only the Iceman does that.

Best For

  • Baths and team pools rated by the manufacturer for volumes up to 2,000 litres
  • Clubs and training centres needing manufacturer-permitted continuous operation
  • Operators running a standard 4°C protocol rather than a sub-4°C one
  • Buyers who need to move the unit between sites — two handles, two wheels, 39 kg
  • Anyone pairing a chiller with an existing tub, via the supplied 19 mm quick-connect pool fittings

Compact XP Features & Buying Details

Cooling Performance & Temperature Range
  • Cooling Power: 7,200 W (manufacturer-stated cooling power)
  • Horsepower: 2.8 hp
  • Operating Temperature: 4°C (39°F), software limited
  • Heating: None — chill only
  • Maximum Pool Volume: Up to 2,000 L
  • Recommended Pool: IceMate Pro
  • Continuous Operation: 24/7 operation allowed by the manufacturer
  • Compressor: Rotary type by Panasonic or Mitsubishi

The 7,200 W figure is iCoolsport's stated cooling power — heat removed from the water — not an electrical input rating. The two are different quantities and should not be compared against another brand's input wattage.

Electrical Requirements — Read Before Ordering
  • Voltage: Manufactured as either 110 V or 220 V — not multi-voltage
  • Running Current, 110 V: 14 A (28 A maximum)
  • Running Current, 220 V: 7.5 A (14 A maximum)
  • Supply Required, 110 V: Capable of at least 26 A
  • Supply Required, 220 V: Capable of at least 13 A
  • Frequency: 50 Hz / 60 Hz
  • Earth Leak Device: Built-in RCD, 30 milliamp maximum allowed leakage, with test button
  • Power Plug: Three-pin heavy duty, supplied to suit country

iCoolsport states that connecting the machine to the wrong voltage may cause severe damage that is not covered under warranty, and the 110 V and 220 V builds ship with different circulation pumps. The running current is well below the supply requirement because the compressor draws more for up to a minute at every start, and the manufacturer specifies the supply must carry that. iCoolsport requires a supply capable of at least 26 A at 110 V; have a qualified electrician confirm the site circuit before ordering. Long extension leads are specifically advised against, as the voltage drop can trigger the under-voltage safety system, and every outlet used must have an earth connection meeting local electrical regulations.

  • PIN Lock: Can be set to prevent unauthorised use
Siting, Airflow & Installation
  • Surface: Flat and level
  • Distance to Pool: No more than 25 metres
  • Clearance: At least 250 mm clear front and back of any wall, obstacle or structure
  • Enclosed Spaces: Cannot operate safely in a cupboard, under stairs, or any closed space
  • Outdoor Use: Permitted, but not in direct rain or strong sunlight, and away from heat sources
  • Ideal Ambient Temperature: 10°C to 25°C

iCoolsport advises against use in air temperatures above 48°C and notes that full power may not be available above 45°C. Condensation may form and drip beneath the unit in humid conditions, and a drip tray can be placed underneath. Floor loading should be planned for the filled bath rather than the chiller — water weighs 1 kg per litre — and the manufacturer recommends consulting a qualified engineer if you are unsure.

Pool Compatibility & Connection

Rated for baths and plunge pools up to 2,000 litres. iCoolsport pairs the Compact XP with the IceMate Pro as its recommended pool.

The supplied quick-connect fittings match every iCoolsport pool. To connect the Compact XP to a tub you already own, the same quick-connect fittings can be supplied for most pools and bath tubs — ask us and we will confirm what your tub needs.

If you use a pump other than the one supplied, iCoolsport specifies it must not exceed 1,000 W, and it must be plugged into the machine's own pump socket so the safety system can shut it down.

Operation, Maintenance & Water Care
  • Permitted Water Treatment: Chlorine, salt, mild chemical disinfectants, ozone and UV
  • Excluded Water Treatment: Bromide — iCoolsport states it is excessively corrosive
  • Cleaning: Microfibre cloth and mild cleaners, cleaned often to prevent dust and debris reducing performance
  • Overheat Protection: Shuts down above 60°C internal temperature and restarts automatically once cooled

Never allow water to freeze in the titanium tank — iCoolsport excludes the resulting damage from warranty. Drain the unit if it will be idle in freezing conditions. Keep the original packaging for the length of the warranty, as it is the safe way to move the machine later.

Warranty, Safety & Usage
  • Warranty: Standard one-year manufacturer warranty, subject to iCoolsport terms and conditions
  • Country of Manufacture: Designed and made in Australia

iCoolsport excludes from warranty: connection to the wrong voltage, allowing water to freeze in the titanium tank, damage from extreme outdoor exposure, and improper installation or operation. Registering your serial number, model and software version with iCoolsport support speeds any warranty claim.

Cold water immersion is physically demanding. Never plunge alone, and seek advice from a qualified clinician before beginning cold immersion if you are pregnant or have a cardiovascular, circulatory or neurological condition.

Before You Buy: three things decide whether the Compact XP suits your site. First, voltage — the machine is built as either 110 V or 220 V and cannot be converted, so contact us before ordering so we can confirm the correct build for your application. Second, the supply — iCoolsport requires a supply capable of at least 26 A at 110 V; have a qualified electrician confirm the site circuit before ordering. Third, airflow — the machine needs 250 mm clear front and back and cannot be enclosed.

Common Questions

How large a bath will the Compact XP handle?

iCoolsport rates it for plunge pools up to 2,000 litres. The two Compact Series 5 models are rated to 500 litres, so the XP is the step up when your bath is larger than that.

Does the Compact XP heat as well as chill?

No. It is a chill-only machine. The Compact XP Dual-Temp is the same capacity with heating to 40°C added.

How cold does it get?

iCoolsport specifies an operating temperature of 4°C (39°F), software limited. If you need to go below that, the Iceman is the only model in the range that reaches 2°C (35°F).

Is 7,200 W how much electricity it uses?

No. iCoolsport publishes 7,200 W as cooling power, which describes heat removed from the water, not electricity drawn from the wall. The electrical figures the manufacturer publishes are current ratings: 14 A at 110 V, or 7.5 A at 220 V. We will not convert one into the other, because they are different quantities.

What supply does it need?

iCoolsport requires a supply capable of at least 26 A at 110 V, or at least 13 A at 220 V, because the compressor draws more heavily for up to a minute at every start. Have a qualified electrician confirm the site circuit before ordering. The manufacturer specifically advises against long extension leads, as the resulting voltage drop can trigger the under-voltage safety system.

What happens if I connect it to the wrong voltage?

iCoolsport states it may cause severe damage that is not covered under warranty. The machine is built to one voltage and the label above the power inlet states which. Contact Wellari before ordering so we can confirm the correct voltage build for your application.

Can it run continuously?

Yes. iCoolsport permits 24/7 operation, fully automatic.

What water treatment can I use?

Chlorine, salt, mild chemical disinfectants, ozone and UV are all permitted by the manufacturer. Do not use bromide — iCoolsport states it is excessively corrosive to the machine.

How we source these numbers

Manufacturer Specifications, Stated Plainly

Every figure on this page is taken from iCoolsport's current published specification for the Compact XP or from the Compact Range Series 5 owner's manual. Where those two sources disagree, the figure is omitted. If a specification you need is not listed here, ask us and we will put the question to the manufacturer.

Not sure whether the Compact XP, the XP Dual-Temp or the Iceman suits your protocol, or what your supply can carry? Tell us your bath volume, target temperature and electrical situation and we will tell you which machine fits — including when the answer is a smaller unit.
